I am already in love. Porto is beautiful. I’m like a girl who has fallen in love at first sight, even while knowing that I only have a couple of nights together. I will make the most of it and savor every single minute.
Not everything has been perfect! I am always prepared for that reality when I’m traveling so I don’t get too bothered about it. I don’t think I have annoyed Bethany (yet) but it’s early in the trip! We are really having a good time together. She is my navigator, thankfully and that’s been fabulous.
We were dropped off “near” our Porto Airbnb —- the driver pointed us in the basic direction of where we would be staying for two nights – “just walk down that street and turn left” – and we wandered around up and down the hilly, narrow cobblestone streets, trying to figure out where it was. Managed to find it, and then discovered I needed internet service to retrieve the entry code—- arghhh! Wandered around some more- which was actually nice- looking for a cafe with internet— and ran into a Starbucks (ugh!) but was thankful at this point to get some mediocre coffee and the much-needed wifi.
And jet lag is REAL! Slept in this morning but managed to have a full, hot, beautiful day, doing a 3 hour walking tour, taking in a Portuguese concert down by the river, and just breathing in the old city atmosphere and taking in it.
Worn out and back to our resting place. We take the train to VIGO tomorrow and start our walk Thursday.
I am really struggling with using this platform orm for recording our Camino – and can’t seem to upload photos efficiently- so may choose an easier one — will keep you posted!
Buen Camino (I’m trying desperately not to pronounce it as “Bone Camino so as not to embarrass myself and my daughter- that is the universal greeting on our trip so I need to get it right!)
Also will do my best to figure out how to post my pictures of the city!
